This place totally takes me back to my trip to Myanmar (Burma), it's about as authentic as you can get. The Burmese style noodles and samosas are both amazing, and the prices can't be beat. The one huge thing you should know about this place is that the food all takes a LONG time to make. Everything is cooked from scratch, which is a plus, but don't expect to wait any less than 45 minutes for your meal to be cooked, and plan at least an hour and a half in total if you are going to dine in. Trust me, though, it's totally worth it!!!

Massaman curry with tofu! So good! You must have it. Especially if you you're a vegetarian or vegan. This place is a hole in the wall but its great! Super cheap too!

WOW! The food and service is fantastic. I was alone and was able to order a mini appetizer for 80 cents. It is super cheap and the meals are huge. I sat next to a window with a good book and drank jasmine tea. Nothing costs extra. I had lot's of tea and sauces. I am also pretty sure they gave me a discount, and I don't know why. But I do know that the food was authentic and I went twice during the week I was in Indiana.

Free hot tea and soup with your meal. Definitely a bang for your buck! I've been here twice and both times, I have happily walked away with left overs and a full belly. Had a nice chat with the owner... She is delightful and had fun stories about Iceland! Try the Pad Thai... I'm sure you will like it!

Fantastic pad thai, the best in town! The service could be a little more friendly, though.

Went to this restaurant over weekend. Food- excellent, fresh very delicious. I have mohinga. Highly recommend this.Samusas are excellent.Fish cakes are very authentic . Service- good with wait staff. Wait until Ma Hnin came out.She is very friendly, very nice.Described all the food how she made them .They sells some pre made dishes in the fridge .She said if you phone and ask she can make any dish you like.I think mostly for authentic Burmese dishes I guess.I might be wrong. Decor - very basic,no bells and whistles at all but homely and nice. I would highly recommend this place.More over they are Burmese/ Mon refugees settling in Indiana working very hard for a living and adjusting to a new life. PLEASE SUPPORT. Note.I found this place through Yelp reviews ,my go to review site, and I paid for all my food.

By far, my favorite restaurant in this town. Not a good place if you are a timid eater from the Midwest. Lots of flavor, authentic Asian dishes and great service. I love this place.

My go to place when I want good cheap Asian, specifically, Thai food with nice sized portions. It's in downtown Fort Wayne so there's that driving factor. The place in itself is small and a little outdated. But they keep it clean and the employees are just so nice. There is plenty of parking as the parking lot is probably as big if not bigger than the restaurant. But the food....so authentic and tasty. Everything is good. And cheap. U can't go wrong coming to Mahnin.

Don't let the outside fool you! The food is very good and the wait staff is incredibly friendly! If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely be coming back! I was with a large group and we tried a lot of different items including the appetizers, curry, and noodle dishes. Everything was delicious!

Tried this out based on reviews - visiting town and needed a good meal but unwilling to pay an arm and a leg for it. I wasn't in the least disappointed. Interesting range of menu items, (chose a mild curry and glad I hadn't chosen hot), simple décor, relaxed setting, excellent food, amazing price, authentic cuisine. You should try it too.

Very average. Seems authentic and the staff is friendly, but the food was quite bland. Ordered curry "hot" and it had no flavor. Maybe someone just missed the seasoning in this order. Won't be back.

A hole in the wall, but it is a tasty and quick, sit-in lunch. The menu features mostly Thai dishes with some traditional Burmese appetizers. There is a menu written in Thai on the board that may have other specials. Cash only. Best pad thai I've had in Fort Wayne so far, very authentic and lighter in sauce than other places I've tried for this area. I will come again.

O.M.G. What an amazing experience this was! A real exploration for me, personally, as I had never had Bhurmese food before. But beyond that - the people! The kindness! The love they put into their food! And, the GENEROSITY of their food, both in taste, explanation, and volume. As an example, we ordered a papaya salad as a side dish. I have had some amazing papaya salads, and am quick to try to compare different versions. This little dish came out. It was a couple of bucks, so I thought it might be a side-dish portion of shaved papaya, and maybe some hot peppers and a dressing. No, no - it came out in a huge dish, and had all kinds of seafood in it. Not what I was expecting, and not something I could really eat since I don't eat seafood. But, my dining companion could, and I was amazed at the quality and generosity of the seafood in the dish. We probably ordered 5 of 6 dishes between the two of us, because we were visiting Fort Wayne and weren't sure when we would get a chance to try Bhurmese food again. All said, our bill was like 20 or 30 bucks. Peanuts for the variety and quality of food we were served. Amen - Bhurmese or not, this is definitely a place you should support when you are in Fort Wayne!

The best! Everything on the menu is top notch. Its a small family run place with great food. My wife and I order for take out regularly. The portions are generous. Grab some take out, you won't be sorry. The green curry is best in town.

I don't generally give any establishment 5 stars, but this was as close as I ever got to giving them. The food was delicious and comparatively priced. They brought out my toddler's chicken pad thai VERY quickly which helped keep him very happy, bonus points in my book! I had the Koa Pad Kra Prao with beef (delicious!) and my husband had the beef Lab. We'll likely make our way down there again very soon!

Wow! So flavorful! My wife and I decided to stop here because she really wanted some Pad Thai and of course we checked out Yelp for the place to stop... Lets just say that Yelp definitely got this one right! Once we drove up to the location, we thought "Mmmmmm.... I don't know about going in this place." The building does look like it has seen better days, but once you get inside you will be taken in by the warmth and friendliness of those who work at this restaurant. Besides that, the food is truly amazing! So full of flavor! We have been there three times now and have plans to keep going back on a regular basis. My wife continues to order the Pad Thai. I on the other hand have tried a number of dishes on the menu and continue to explore new flavors and tastes I never knew existed. Try the egg rolls! They're great! You can eat at the restaurant or get your food to take home. If you eat there, you may end up with some extra food that the cooks want you to try out! I'm ready to go back to Mahnin now and eat some more and I just finished eating my dinner from there just a little bit ago.

My wife and I were on a hunt for something new on a Sunday evening. We had spied this spot in a little Asia-town on S. Calhoun recently and decided to give it a try. The prices are very reasonable ($5-7 for most entrees), so we decided to do it up and order a couple things each and throw the rest in a cooler for the hour drive home. The Wifely got Red Curry and Pad Thai. I got Pad Kee Mow (Drunken Noodles) and the Seafood Salad. We ordered heat at Medium across the board. I ended up adding some chilis to my Drunken Noodles, but otherwise were very happy with the heat level. The food tasted fresh, light and focused on the meat and veg without a lot of aggressive saucing. Most of the food at other Thai restaurants in Fort Wayne seems to be super sweet (perhaps catering to the American fondness for things sweet?). The Wifely is a pesco-vegetarian who doesn't like tofu and our plucky server wasn't bothered at all by her requests to omit meat and tofu from both the curry and the Pad Thai. I thought the Pad Thai was delicious, but a little too sweet. The curry, however was outstanding and I enjoyed finding the thai eggplant in it (I'm a gardener, too, and it's not every day you see thai eggplant in a dish.) Nothing fancy here, but good Thai home cooking.

Mahnin wasn't bad. Very no-frills cafe with a diverse menu of Thai/Burmese entrees. The operation is very small so service can be a bit slow - be prepared for a wait for your meal.

This review is for take out only. This is truly excellent food. I have lived most of my life in New York City or Chicago, and have never found Thai as good as this. Perhaps it is the Burmese influence. Their food is layered in flavor, not overly sweet, not overly salty, not overly greasy, full of fresh herbs, citrus, authentic fish sauce. The price is outstanding. We have had the delicious samosas (much thinner wonton than the Indian samosas we have had and with more flavor), the Yum Woon Sen, Sukiyaki, Kao Pad Kra Prao, and the Pad Khee Mao. All have been excellent. The broth in the Sukiyaki was incredible. We LOVE this restaurant!

We drove up to FW to lunch at True Friend Tea House and were crushed to find that it had closed. (The building's now in the works to be yet another karate school for you white trash samurais out there.) I knew there were a couple oriental markets in the immediate neighborhood, and after an inquiry, we found ourselves at Manhin. Housed in classic service station of yore, Manhin serves up delicious and cheap Burmese and/or Thai dishses quickly. There wasn't a whole lot on the menu, but everything impressed. We came in the late afternoon and had the place to ourselves. $3 for five shrimp rolls - whole shrimp and vermicelli wrapped IN NORI then wrapped in spring roll paper and deep fried. Tasty! $5 entrees were chicken in a spicy coconut curry with Thai eggplant, served with rice and a fantastic lo mein typle noodle dish with basil, pork, and a fried egg. Both were served with a small bowl of chicken and vermicelli soup and a dish of onion and hot sauce slaw. We tried to order more food, but the very attentive waiter dissuaded us from doing so as the portions were fairly large. Sure, it's in an ancient gas station, but that adds to the fun. The dining room was tidy and the bathroom immaculate. The staff was great and the people watching from the windows was excellent. CASH ONLY! I don't make it up very often, but Manhin will see my patronage next time I'm in town.

Best kept secret serving Thai and Burmese food. You get a TON of food for around $8 and it's very good and authentic. Well worth it!

The best Thai food so far in Fort Wayne! The parking area is really small because other customers may parked behind your car and you have to ask them to move their car. Inside the restaurant, you will be greeted by a nice waitress. It is a small dining area but the food is so good that it doesn't matter. I always get the pad Thai or pad kee Mao ( medium spiciness). It's really delicious that I've been coming here for the past two years! The price for an entree is good. It is cheaper than most Thai restaurants. About $7 for chicken, $1 extra for beef, and $2 extra for shrimp. I have not tried anything else but I'm pretty sure it's tasty as well. Overall, come to this place if you're craving for Thai food! You will not be disappointed.

An amazingly authentic place with very reasonable prices and friendly staff. Very authentic Thai and Burmese food with the extra touches you would expect like the peanuts and spicy sauces offered to you when you place your orders. Make sure you have some time because when they are crowded it takes a while, but it truly is worth the wait.

My wife and I tried this place and loved the food and the family. Yes...the family! The waitress is a doll. She is the only waitress and works very hard! The dinner is small and out dated. However, she hustles up and down the aisle with a smile and serves you well. The owner and cook is a very kind lady...and an outstanding cook. She came out and talked to us a brief moment even though English isn't her natural language. The food was very well done. We had the Samosa appetizer which was unique and tasty. They sold out of the shrimp egg roll - so get there early! My wife's Pad Thai was one of the best that she has had. My Masaman Currie was very good too! The soup that came with the meal was light and filled with chicken and veggies - well done! It was nice to have a pitcher of hot tea stationed at our table. The prices are very reasonable. You will get a lot of food for your money. The building is located is a rough neighborhood. I would suggest....for your comfort...that you go during the day light hours. Don't be intimidated by the neighbor to keep you from trying it!!! Give this place a try!!!

Great food that captures the complex taste of asian cuisine. The serving was generous and the price isnt that bad either. The lady gave good recommendations on the menu. The service was speedy and great. Would definitely go back.

Friendly staff and, as far as I can know, authentic Thai food. I had a very tasty Pad Thai. Can't really speak for Burmese food 'cos I don't think I tried anything but there is a strong Burmese community in Fort Wayne that's why I assume that this is an authentic hangout. Some kinda of a dive though but very inexpensive too.

By far one of the better Thai/Burmese restaurants in Fort Wayne. Tom Kha Gai, Panang Curry, Samosas and Lad Nar are all highly recommended. I am sure other dishes are superb as well.

Very good Massaman Curry. Thai ice tea was a little too sweet, even for this sweet tooth!

Just found this place this afternoon (3/8/14). Very good food, large quantities at reasonable prices. I had the Gang Panang with Beef (curry in coconut milk, lime leaves over rice) medium spicy. Very good! My wife had the Burmese style noodles with seafood (not spicy). It had shrimp & squid and maybe eggs in a brown sauce. Also very good! Our friend had stir fried vegetables with tofu and rice. The place had only a couple of tables with people at them when we arrived, but the food took a while to get to us, so the server gave us each a samosa (triangular deep-fried wonton skin with potatoes, cilantro, peas, and celery-served with a nice spicy chili sauce) for being so patient. The people are very nice there, and could explain what's in each dish. The menu was also very helpful, since there were pictures and descriptions of each dish. Mahnin reminds me of the hole-in-the-wall places I grew up with in San Francisco...not much of a decor, GREAT with the food and prices. We also talked with the owner...she's originally from Burma, but has lived for a while in Thailand, so that's why there's a mix of Thai and Burmese food. Oh yeah, I noticed that there were many Burmese who had phone ordered food for takeout while we were there. Only one family stayed and ate there. Excellent food. We'll be back!

My fiance and I were in Fort Wayne on business and didn't expect to find a place like this here. The food was good, but the value was great. We walked out paying only $26.00 for two entrees, a starter and a Thai tea, oh, and that was with tax. This is also why I chose to give 5 stars. Everything is a function of its price, and this was certainly no exception to that rule. Price aside, we would have given it 4 stars. As others have stated, the Samosas are great and so was the clear soup, a real treat for me. Entrees were good too, but could have used a bit of refinement. I'm not going to complain, though, because, as I said, we were getting much more than we were paying for. Try this place and you won't be disappointed.

Everything, and I mean everything here is delicious. The Samosa is the best I have ever had. The Curry is on point although it is a bit greasy. The Rice noodles and Rice Bucatini Noodle dishes are fan-damn-tastic! There version of Clear Soup is better than any Japanese clear soup I have ever had. If you have any interest in Thai or Burmese food this as far as I'm concerned is the only truly authentic one in Fort Wayne, except no substitutes.

New experience with Burmese. Stir fries are more on the sweet side but spice can be added. Food was tasty and the hostess was very helpful and friendly.

As far as asian fare goes, this place is on the map in Fort Wayne. It's got great authentic dishes with robust flavors that can only be found in the most traditional of recipes. When in season, do not miss the papaya salad!
